Job Title: Suicide and Overdose Loss Programming Assistant (Part-Time)
Organization: What Would Bri Do dba Bri’s Lodge
Location: Bri’s Lodge, Waite Park
Hours: 20 hours per week
Compensation: $17-$19/hour
Reports to: Executive Director

Position Summary: Bri’s Lodge is seeking a compassionate, organized, and mission-driven individual to serve as the Suicide and Overdose Loss Programming Assistant. This part-time role (20 hours/week) will be essential in helping develop and implement new grief support services specifically for individuals affected by suicide or overdose loss. While supporting a broad range of grief programming at Bri’s Lodge, the primary focus of this position will be building, coordinating, and supporting programming for those grieving a suicide or overdose death.

Lived experience of suicide loss is preferred. We are seeking someone who has personally lost a loved one to suicide—someone who understands the unique pain, stigma, and emotional complexity of this kind of grief. While the primary focus of this role is to support individuals after a suicide or overdose loss, we recognize that meaningful grief support can also serve as a vital part of suicide risk reduction for survivors.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Development & Implementation

  • Assist in designing and launching grief companioning and support programs for suicide and overdose loss.
  • Help identify and create appropriate resources, workshops, and materials for these programs.
  • Contribute to the long-term planning of specialized grief services, retreats, and hybrid support options.
Volunteer Coordination
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training and coordination of grief companions and group facilitators.
  • Maintain scheduling and communication for program volunteers.
Outreach & Community Engagement
  • Assist with marketing, communications, and outreach efforts to connect with those affected by suicide and overdose loss.
  • Build relationships with local agencies, hospitals, treatment centers, and community partners.
Direct Support (as needed)
  • Help facilitate groups and provide 1:1 companioning when necessary to ensure continuity of care.
  • Potential to attend training in Suicide Grief Companioning (based on funding availability and interest).
General Programming Support
  • Provide administrative and logistical support across Bri’s Lodge grief programs, including those focused on other types of loss such as child, spouse, sibling, and perinatal grief.
  • Participate in team meetings and support planning for retreats and events.
Qualifications:
  • Personal experience with suicide loss is preferred.
  • Experience or interest in grief support, peer support, counseling, or social work.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team member.
  • Comfort with emotional content and working in a trauma-informed environment.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Google, Zoom, etc.).
