Lunchtime Learning: Hidden Employment Law Liabilities
Building a business requires that those involved take the time to protect it. The most obvious concerns seem to get most of the attention. However, business owners should also be aware of little known or less common on issues that can hinder business. During this presentation, Chad Staul will lead a candid discussion on a variety of employment law topics that can unwittingly expose employers to liability. Some of the area of discussion will include situations in which employees are subjected to harassment or discrimination, misclassification, performance of employee background checks, situations where employees are engaging in activities outside of work, unknown employee activities during work, and employee use of company property. Business owners, managers, and HR professionals will find this session especially useful.
Chad Staul is an employment and labor attorney at Quinlivan & Hughes, P.A. Chad advises clients on a variety of issues, ranging from employment policies, contracts and compliance to workplace investigations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation and other employee complaints. A native of North Dakota, Chad received his bachelor's from St. Cloud State University and his law degree from Hamline University School of Law. After work, you’ll find him devoting time to his wife and two daughters, playing their favorite board games.
