Government Affairs Meeting 8/19/2026
Understanding Minnesota's Foreign Workforce & What It Means for Our Regional Economy
Join us as we welcome Fernando Quijano, Community Economics Extension Educator with the University of Minnesota Extension, for a timely discussion on Minnesota's foreign workforce and its growing role in meeting employer workforce needs.
Fernando will share findings from new research that profiles foreign workers across Minnesota, including the occupations they fill, the industries where they are employed, regional hiring trends, county-level workforce data, employer insights, and earnings information. His research highlights the significant role foreign workers play in addressing workforce shortages, particularly in critical occupations where employers struggle to find domestic talent.
The findings are especially relevant to Stearns County, which employs a disproportionately large number of foreign workers in key industries. This presentation will provide valuable data and insights for business leaders, policymakers, and community stakeholders interested in strengthening our regional workforce and economy.
Don't miss this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of one of Minnesota's most important workforce trends and its impact on Central Minnesota.
