Employment Law: "A Hazy Issue: Medical Marijuana AND the Workplace"
Employment Law: Keeping Your Business Out of Trouble -"A Hazy Issue: Medical Marijuana AND the Workplace" presented by Dr. Philip Bachman, Workmed Midwest & Chad Staul, Rinke Noonan
Medical Marijuana:
On May 29, 2014 Minnesota enacted the Medical Cannabis Act (MCA), legalizing medical marijuana. Further, and somewhat unique to Minnesota, the MCA provides considerable protections for employees and applicants who are also registered users of medical marijuana. Learn about the protections the MCA provides to employees and applicants and how they affect other employment laws, such as drug and alcohol testing in the workplace, the lawful consumable products statute and impacts on reasonable accommodation requirements. Walk away with best practices on how employers can continue to handle medical marijuana.
Chad Staul concentrates his practice in the areas of Employment Law and Business Law and advises clients on a wide variety of issues including: Employment Counseling, Wage and Hour Compliance; Independent Contractor; Workplace Investigations of Discrimination, Harassment,Retaliation and Other Employee Complaints; Employment Policies and Contracts, Including Employment Separation, Non-Competition, Non-Solicitation and Other Agreements; Federal, State, and Local Agency Regulatory Compliance; and Management and Supervisor Training.
Phil Bachman founded Workmed Midwest in November of 2013 after having served patients and employers in Central Minnesota for more than 25 years. He earned his Masters Degree in Public Health and Occupational Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin in May, 1997 and passed the occupational medicine board exam in 2002. Dr. Bachman is Board Certified in both Occupational Medicine and Family Practice, and licensed in the States of Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. He was one of the first MROs in the United States evaluates drug results in all 50 states.
