
The #MeToo Movement and Ensuring Compliance in Today's Workplace
This course is eligible for 1 recertification credit with HRCI and SHRM.
The #MeToo movement has brought renewed attention to sexual harassment and sex-based discrimination in the workplace. This training will provide attendees with key tips for ensuring compliance in the workplace and information regarding new and proposed legislative changes both nationally and in Minnesota. The presentation will also include valuable and direct insight from the Minnesota Human Rights Office, the entity responsible for investigating sexual harassment and sex-based discrimination claims against central Minnesota employers.
Attendees will learn:
- About how the #metoo movement has impacted national and Minnesota proposed and enacted legislation;
- The difference between disparate treatment discrimination and disparate impact discriminiation as it relates to sex- based discrimination
- Best practices to prevent sex-based discrimination in hiring, promotion, termination, job classification, compensation/benefits
- About sexual harassment and best practices for handling claims of sexual harassment
- About the MN Human Rights Act and how a complaint is processed and investigated through the MN Department of Human Rights
Speakers:
Attorney Betsey Lund Ross - Betsey is a native of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota and is actively involved in many civiic organizations in the greater St. Cloud area. She is the founder of Lund Ross Law Firm located in downtown St. Cloud
Heidi Hovis - Heidi has a bachelor's degree in Social Work from Winona State University and a law degree from the University of St. Thomas. She is currently an Enforcement Officer in the St. Cloud Regional Office of the Minnesota Department of Human Rights. The goal of the Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR) is to make Minnesota discrimination-free.
