EXPO FOR SENIORS 2015

Expo for Seniors to feature Senior Scam Awareness,
special appearance by Lori Swanson, Attorney General
Scams are a serious threat for seniors in Central Minnesota and will be the main educational topic of the upcoming Expo For Seniors event taking place Saturday, August 15, from 7:30 am – 12:45 pm at the River’s Edge Convention Center.
Keynote speaker, Minnesota Attorney General, Lori Swanson will take the stage at 11 am and share current issues affecting Minnesota seniors. From “Grandparent” scams and phony investments to “spoofed” phone calls and fake prize giveaways, Attorney General Swanson will open up a discussion about senior financial scams, including ways to protect their pocketbook and combat fraud.
RomanceScams.org volunteer, Jody Buell, will share insights on identifying scammers, primarily those posting fake profiles on dating sites and social networks at 8:00 am. She will teach about what red flags to look for and about who the scammer’s ideal victim is.
At 11:45 am, Elvis tribute artist Art Kistler will take the stage and treat audiences to a free blast from the past.
The Expo for Seniors is a free event and open to the public. There will be complimentary breakfast starting at 7:30 am. More than 100 healthcare, housing, finance, fitness, safety and other senior-related vendors will be available at the expo.
Parking is available on-site or there will be a free shuttle courtesy of Executive Express running from the Swan lot and the Center Square ramp.
Sponsors of the event include Times Media, The Good Shepherd Community and CentraCare St. Benedict’s Senior Community.
