Life Skills Coach
 
We offer a dynamic, positive, one-of-a-kind environment that actively promotes the health and well-being of team members and persons served! In partnership with Sherburne County, we provide independent living support to people with disabilities who live in their own apartment in Big Lake and Elk River. Independent Lifestyles has part-time and full-time mostly afternoon and evening with other support shifts positions available to carry on our mission of a team promoting independence and choices for people with disabilities, their families and communities.
 
Duties /Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Daily check-in’s with residents
  • Problem solving (roommate issues, transportation concerns, etc.)
  • Identify and accomplish goals by providing skill based training
  • Teach independence promoting skills including advocacy, self-esteem and assertiveness
  • Establish linkages to community resources
  • Schedule social events
  • Provide transportation to social events
  • Schedule, transport and attend medical appointments
  • Offer daily, weekly, or monthly shopping trips
  • Assist with paperwork
  • Assist with budgeting
  • Ensure all timelines are followed and adhered to
  • On rotating basis with co-workers be available to assist 24 hr per day/seven days a week
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Proactively contribute to the health and well-being of our company culture and team
 
Education:
  • Must have a high school diploma. A passion for working with people with disabilities is preferred.
 
Qualifications:
  • Ability to professionally solve problems proactively and positively using company culture strategies provided
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries
  • Ability to accept changes
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently with minimal supervision and be dependable
  • Patient with others
  • Works well with others
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time well, prioritize and work well under multiple demands
  • Organized and attention to detail
  • Ability to network
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable, insured vehicle with a clean driving record
  • Must pass the background check
