Development Officer
Pay Range: $60,000-65,000, plus excellent benefit package, depending on qualifications

Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to work with Foundation leadership to leverage and strengthen donor relationships, develop new funding sources to support programs and operations, as well as prepare communication materials to support fundraising and development strategies. A strong commitment to the vision, mission and values of the Foundation is essential as we work together to serve the communities of Central Minnesota.
Responsibilities:

Resource Development (65%): Develops financial institution, business and planned giving prospect lists and solicits gifts. Activities include cultivating key relationships, mobilizing donors and securing gifts according to organizational and individual performance goals. Works with donors, staff and advisors to answer inquiries and develop legacy gifts to general endowment and Partner Funds.

External Relations (15%): Participates in campaign design and planning and supports Fund Development activities. Builds relationships with local centers of influence. Conducts outreach activities and represents the Foundation with respect to financial advisors (financial planners, estate planning attorneys, etc.). Works with other staff to market and communicate planned giving vehicles to enhance program delivery and brand awareness.

Communication (15%): Produces and monitors donor communication. Collaborates with external relations and communication teams to construct appeals, cultivation and stewardship materials, and electronic communication.

Other Duties (5%): Participates in teams and work groups. Completes other duties as assigned by the supervisor, President or members of Leadership Team.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in development, marketing, planning or related field with
three years successful development and/or planned giving experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong experience in endowment, annual funds, advised funds, and public relations. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. Requires a valid driver’s license and insurance coverage or access to reliable transportation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Position calls for expert knowledge and experience in various
fundraising strategies and techniques, written communication skills, and a deep understanding of rural philanthropy. Knowledge in fundraising, planned giving and estate planning is a plus. Ability to work independently as well as in work groups and teams is key. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, customer service orientation needed. Individual must be self-motivated, strategic, creative, goal-oriented and of high integrity.
Location: This position’s home office is in Little Falls, MN, and requires a portion of worktime in the office. As a hybrid workplace employer, this position allows for some Central Minnesota-based remote work.
