Job Description & Expectations


Purpose: 

To advise, govern, oversee policy and direction, and assist with the leadership and general promotion of What Would Bri Do so as to support the organization’s mission and needs.

Mission Statement:

What Would Bri Do helps individuals cope with loss, supports their healing, nurtures their physical and emotional well-being and brings hope for the future – No one should grieve alone.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Organizational leadership, governance, and advisement

  • Organization and continuity of the board of directors, officers, and committees

  • Formulation and oversight of policies and procedures

  • Financial management, including adoption and oversight of the annual budget

  • Oversight of program planning and evaluation

  • Personnel evaluation and staff development

  • Review of organizational and programmatic reports

  • Promotion of the organization

  • Fundraising and outreach

All members of the board share these responsibilities while acting in the interest of What Would Bri Do. Each member is expected to make recommendations based on his or her experience and vantage point in the community. 

Length of Term:

Three years, which may be renewed, pending approval of the board. 

Expectations of Board Members:

  • The board of directors meets at 6 PM, the second Wednesday of each month at the St. Cloud Library. Meetings typically last 2 hours.

  • Committees of the board meet an average of one time per month, pending their respective work agenda. 

  • Board members are asked to attend at least 80% of special events and meetings, per year, as they are determined.

  • Board members are asked to attend An Evening of Hope each year and attend as many of the larger events as possible. Example Rays of Hope Walk, Candlelight Vigil, and Kruzin’ for Bri’s Lodge. Board members need to represent and be the voice of WWBD.

  • Participate on one standing committee of the board and serve on ad hoc committees as necessary.

  • Be alert to community concerns that can be addressed by What Would Bri Do’s mission, objectives and programs.

  • Help communicate and promote What Would Bri Do’s mission and programs to the community. 

  • Become familiar with What Would Bri Do’s finances, budget and financial/resource needs.

  • Understand the policies and procedures of What Would Bri Do

  • Financially support What Would Bri Do by “Giving or Getting” $ 1,000 each year. This can include cash donations, sponsorships, silent auction items, An Evening of Hope Tickets, etc.
