Job Description

Playhouse Child Care Center is looking for a service kitchen cook to serve meals to the children enrolled at our South St. Cloud center. This position includes preparing and serving breakfast and afternoon snack for the children as well as portioning and serving lunch that is delivered to the center. Candidates must be skillful in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking and time management. They will also be responsible for cleaning, dishes, some paperwork, ordering, and tracking expenses. We offer a flexible schedule, and no nights or weekends!

Primary Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Responsible for organizing and coordinating all aspects of meal preparation to deliver quality nutritious meals for children and staff.
  • Purchases/orders all supplies and groceries as needed for meals and snacks. This includes following ordering/supply schedule, and assurance of appropriate utilization within the center.
  • Follow policies/procedures as outlined within Food Service Manual and Kitchen manuals/recipes
  • Maintains established standards of sanitation, safety and food preparation and storage.
  • Communicates and works closely with Center Director and Playhouse Administration regarding menu planning, production schedules and all record keeping requirements.
  • Works with parents and staff regarding Special Dietary needs and follows Playhouse policies regarding completion of forms/meal service expectations.
  • Attends/completes trainings as required (Food and Nutrition trainings, staff meetings, etc.)
  • Maintain Food Safety Certification.

Food Service Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-year job related experience preferred
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisor and work independently
  • Knowledge of USDA Food Service guidelines/CACFP/Health Dept. preferred
  • Hold or be willing to obtain Food Safety Certification
  • Ability to effectively communicate with parents, children and staff.
  • Ability to accept guidance/direction from administration and work in a team setting.

Part-time position will typically work AM shifts starting as early as 7am, and work 28 hours a week. This could potentially turn into a full time position for the right candidate.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $10.50 to $14.00 /hour
