The St Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking a creative and energetic professional to lead the organization's marketing and communications efforts. The Chamber is the premier representative of the business community. Supported and led by members and professional staff, we create, enhance, and support a healthy business environment for our members.
The St Cloud Area Chamber is greater St. Cloud, Minnesota's voice of business representing over 900 diverse business members and their employees.

Job Summary: The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of marketing and communication initiatives for the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce and its divisions. The Director of Marketing and Communications will build brand awareness and create strategies to increase engagement in the Chamber’s programs and educational offerings, membership benefits, public policy activity, and business advocacy. This individual will regularly interact with staff, leadership, volunteers, members, community partners, and media outlets. This is a professional position that reports to the President and works with a dedicated volunteer committee.

Essential Area of Responsibility

  • Overall marketing and communications design, plan management, implementation, and oversight.
  • Develop compelling narratives to communicate the value of Chamber membership, benefits, and services.
  • Development of marketing materials including content, pricing strategy, timelines, design, deadlines, and implementation.
  • Develops and implements all marketing efforts and delivery of all communications, i.e., e-newsletters, sales literature, social media, blogs, podcasts, magazines, brochures, letters, news releases, etc., to attain the desired results.
  • Website design, content creation, marketing management, and traffic optimization strategy.
  • Serves as the editor of the Chamber’s successful Business Central Magazine.
  • Develops budget for area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for bidding projects and materials required in areas of responsibility.
  • Works with the Membership Specialist to develop marketing, campaigns, and collateral to drive new membership acquisition and retention.
  • Works with the Director of Programs and Events to develop marketing strategies for events, write scripts, design required audio visual content, and provided other support as needed.
  • Manage photography and video assets for events and marketing purposes.
  • Prepare reports as required for the Chamber board packet.
  • Project manager for annual Chamber Directory, Regional Profile, and Event Sponsorship and Opportunity Guide.
  • Strategize with the Chamber team to develop new opportunities for non-dues revenue.
  • Functions as a staff liaison to the Marketing Committee and other assigned volunteer committees.
  • Works with the board chair to represent the President in his/her absence.
Non-Essential Job Duties
  • Performs related work as required.
  • 5+ years of job-related experience, bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in marketing, communications, or related field.
  • Strategic, organized, creative, and energetic team player who can work independently and with committees.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
  • Strategic thinking skills necessary to develop and implement creative long-term programs.
  • A demonstrated self-starter who is committed to the Chamber’s mission, vision, goals and objectives.
