Pricing Analyst

The Pricing Analyst is responsible for collaborating with Product Management, Business Development, Marketing, Sales, and Accounting departments to develop effective pricing strategies and models that drive value and revenue within the business and market.  The Pricing Analyst acts as a strategic lead in thinking through GeoComm’s overall approach to pricing while serving as a hands-on practitioner who will drive improved execution and operational excellence in pricing across the organization. They are responsible for the development and monitoring of pricing-based KPIs including reporting to management about the pricing process and results.
Essential Specific Job Duties

  1. Develops all pricing models and price-points based on complex inputs including customer data points, competitive data points and cost data points. Ensures adherence to the overall pricing strategies across the business.
  • Collaborates with Product Management and Business Development to understand pricing strategy, competitive offerings, and value propositions
  • Develops price points and price models based on inputs provided by the teams, analysis of market conditions, past performance and based on pricing best practices. Including for business plan development.
  • Responsible for the making informed pricing recommendations based on costs, competitive offerings and customer value by doing research and collecting data over time to support pricing decisions that follow GAAP standards
  • Utilizes templates and best practices to establish price catalogs and framework for implementation of price catalogs.
  1. Regularly articulate and reinforce pricing strategies throughout the organization.
  • Enables standardized pricing across the organization by coordinating the implementation of the price catalog, price models, price points, and implementation framework to ensure it is well-documented and communicated and continually executed.
  • Enters pricing data into systems and ensures accuracy.
  • Partners with the proposal team to ensure price catalog implementation tools are accurate and implemented correctly.
  • Develops and conducts sales and proposal team training as a coordinated, routine practice and daily as needed.
  1. Develop and maintain KPIs and reports to track and monitor price performance. Conducts data analysis on sales pricing data to find opportunities for price improvements. Makes recommendations based on data.
  • Prepare executive-level reports of findings and opportunities increase price attainment in the businesses.  
  1. Assists the marketing and sales team with opportunity-specific price quotes as assigned including for one-off or new/innovative proposals or high value, long-term opportunities.

Minimum Job Requirements
Education:       Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or similar (MBA preferred) 
Related Experience
  1. At least 3 years of experience working in global pricing of enterprise software, services, or solution bundles 
  2. Business experience working in an analytic capacity in fields such as management consulting, marketing analytics, pricing analytics, or financial analysis 
  3. Expertise with Microsoft Excel including strong analytical skills including familiarity with statistical techniques 
  4. Experience with global/multi-currency pricing and working with different Go To Market models- direct sales, channel partners, etc.  
  5. Highly self-motivated with a track record of working autonomously and effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in a high-pressure environment  
  6. High tolerance for ambiguity and an ability to work cooperatively and forge relationships across multiple departments
Desirable Training, Experience and Characteristics
  1. Experience with executing different pricing models such as subscription pricing and SaaS/PaaS/IaaS 
  2. Experience with Tableau and Netsuite desired
  3. Experience with establishing pricing metrics, tracking pricing effectiveness, and developing a process to review/adjust pricing as changes come from the market, competition, new technology, or significant cost shifts 
  4. Knowledge of commercial pricing tools 
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, company personnel, employees, and the general public.
  6. Ability to perform highly responsible assignments requiring experience, judgment, and discretion. Demonstrated project management skills.
  7. Ability to work proactively and independently  
  8. Ability to interact with senior management, strong communication and presentation skills 
  9. Ability to synthesize information into key messages appropriate for the audience
